My Denon receiver doesn’t have an Input for a turntable. I plugged my old Technics turntable into both different (2) inputs. Neither worked. Tried a different device, an old cassette player with the same results.

If your turntable doesn’t have a built in pre amp you will need a phono pre amp like the ones mentioned here. I’m not sure about your cassette player, I haven’t had that issue with my older cassette players but I do have them hooked up to older receivers with tape monitors.
