1. Identifying the area having issues

First of all, we need to play the record on the vinyl and check out which part shows the issue. It is important that you should ensure that the area having the most damage. This step is very crucial for fixing the skipping issue.

2. Cleaning the affected area

In this step, you need to clean the record through a soft cloth to eliminate the dust and other similar particles. You should wipe the area as light as possible so that it doesn’t get damaged in any way.

After cleaning with the clothes, you should rinse it with the distilled water. Never try to play the wet label on the turntable as it can damage it. You should dry it completely before playing.

3. Creating a cleaning mixture

In this step, you need to create a mixture adding isopropyl alcohol and distilled water. Don’t forget to mix the solution completely and apply it to the surface using cloth. If you don’t want to create this mixture, then buy a professional record cleaner that you can easily buy from the market or online.

It is best to leave this mixture for at least half an hour before starting the cleaning process. Make sure the record is completely dry before use.

4. Testing the record

Now, you have to play the record and whether the problem has eliminated or not. If the skipping problem doesn’t get fixed, you need to move to use a different cleaning process. It’s time to take the cleaning process to another level.

5. Closer checking

Identify the skipping part and then check out it using a magnifying glass. Eliminate the remaining dirt from the record. There are chances some tiny particles may stick on the affected area, and it is important to identify that.

6. Proper purification

In this step, you need to eliminate all the particles in the vinyl using a toothpick or even your fingernail. Remove all the impurities from the area so that it gets cleaned and skipping issue eliminated to a greater extent.

Again, we advise you to don’t be too hard on the disc as it may end up in permanent damage. However, a toothpick made from the wood material is soft and usually not result in damaging the record unless you push it too harder.

7. Play the record

You need to play the record on the vinyl again for the testing process. If the problem remains the same, then there is a greater chance that it might be due to some issue in the parts of vinyl. We don’t suggest anyone perform the repair of the parts like arm or stylus as it needs some precision.

8. Contact Technician

If your skipping problem doesn’t get eliminated till now, then you have no option other than contacting a certified technician. They will do this process very easy with complete precision.

Conclusion
